In an 18 month 'purple run' about 15 years back, I worked my way down to playing off 12. Then I found myself spending every waking moment thinking about it and trying to maintain it, and of course, golf is a bit like sex, in that, if you think too hard about it, you can start to fuck it up.
And my golf handicap began to suffer as well...

Have to admit that I have myself swung an imaginary 3 iron into the 15th at Augusta while in public. Have also been known to cover drive a wicked delivery from Wes Hall.

I used to be addicted to golf,
I'd play nine holes in the morning, then go to work.
But after never getting a handicap, I realised I'm not very good .... the thought of playing golf actually scares me now!

A MATE of mine would had a real problem with other MATES describing cricket shots in the pub through the power of mime. The ball is always played in via the action of index and middle finger "swinging in" and then the shot is a wafty first half of a Nazi salute from the left hip to right shoulder height.
